House League – Small Ball
The Small Ball program is based on introducing the fundamentals of basketball (dribbling, shooting and passing) via instruction, fun drills and games. It is a co-ed class where the instructors will teach the children with a great amount of positive reinforcement. Although there will be games played after the instructional part for the morning has concluded, the games will not be competitive in nature. Scores and standings are not kept. The games will be used to solidify and reinforce the skills that have been taught previously and the skills that were taught that day. On the last week every participate will receive an award.
Program Goals
[1] To promote the importance of quality physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle.
[2] To ensure every participant has fun while learning social interactive skills and basketball fundamentals in a positive environment.
[3] To introduce a basketball skills program which encourages individual improvement, fosters the co-operative aspects of team play and promotes the ethics of fair play.
[4] To educate the players about the value of sport and its application to life skills.
